From Shakti Butler, director of “Cracking the Codes: The System of Inequity” and “Mirrors of Privilege: Making the Whiteness Visible,” “The Way Home” brings together diverse women to talk about their experience of racism in America. The film shares the courageous reflections of sixty-four women representing a cross-section of cultures (Indigenous, African-American, Arab/Middle Eastern, Asian, European-American, Jewish, Latina and Multiracial), whose varied experienced with resistance, love, assimilation, standards of beauty, power, and school experiences provide provocative insights into the female perspective on racism.
