WE HAVE A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY
The Agreement Came Because of Our Work with Our Union Coalition, Our Community, and Our City Council
Today, your elected Bargaining Team voted to accept a proposal from the City of Oakland.
The proposal is a one-year extension to our existing contract, with no takeaways, no reductions to healthcare, or changes to premiums, and an across-the-board 3% raise for all members, effective the first full pay period of July, 2021.
This extension was made possible by SEIU 1021 members’ hard work electing a progressive City Council that was able to stand up against Mayor Libby Schaaf’s austerity politics, by working in coalition with our union siblings in IFPTE Local 21, IAFF 55, IBEW 1245, and CMEA, and by partnering with the community to fight for a People’s Budget alongside the Oakland Progressive Alliance, the ReFund Coalition, and other groups.
Together, we will continue to fight for a just recovery that prioritizes services for our community and the workers who provide those services.
SEIU 1021 members in the City of Oakland will next get to vote to accept or reject the tentative agreement. Keep an eye out for updates on the vote.
