We Have Reached a Tentative Agreement With the City of Oakland
Voting Will Take Place October 29 - 31: Vote Count November 1, 100 Oak St., 10 a.m.
This is a two-year contract: July 1, 2019 – June 30,
2021.
New highlights include:
- Guaranteed 6% raise over the next two years (including retroactive 1% raise from July 1, 2019)
- NO cuts to healthcare
- NO cuts to internal hiring
- Greater access to bilingual pay
- Increased safety shoe allowance
Your elected Bargaining Team unanimously recommends a “YES” vote.
Previously announced agreements include the following:
- Safety trainings about blood-borne pathogens and hazardous atmospheres to be made available to more workers
- Homeless encampment premium extended to more KOCB workers and heavy equipment operators
- Greater accountability for the city: all TPT release notifications now to be sent to the union
- Tool allowance increase
- Performance appraisal deadline: If the City misses an annual performance appraisal, the worker will receive an assessment of “Fully Effective”
- Discipline hearing dates (Skelly hearings) now to be scheduled collaboratively and not imposed
- Commuter program administrative fees now paid by the City
- Ergonomic improvements made easier to request
- Initial salary made more competitive
- Access to traumatic leave expanded
