“When I found out I would be working in City Hall after completing a custodial training program, I was really happy. I never thought I could work at a place like this—San Francisco City Hall.

“When I found out I was coming to America, I was really excited because here I have more opportunities than in China. And I’m so happy here. I came to United States from China in 2005.  I’ve wanted to be part of the U.S., as a U.S. Citizen.  My dream has been to learn English and buy a house.

“I’m happy to be an immigrant working in such a fantastic building.  I have always tried to do my best and use  knowledge to maintain this building. My [coworkers] and I keep this building clean and beautiful so the public can enjoy all the services provided here.  Our goal as custodial staff is to make sure that each person that walks into the building gets the best first impression. I want everybody coming into City Hall to feel  and say: “Wow—this building is so clean and nice.”
