“Our members and our communities need more. We can Build Back Better and make our country a place of equity, justice, and opportunities to thrive for everyone.”
The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is now the law of the land: now it's time to build back better!
Last week, President Joe Biden signed the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs act into law. This means that a significant investment is coming into the things we all need and that benefit us all: $1.2 trillion in all, including $110 billion for roads and bridges, $65 to expand broadband internet access, especially for rural areas that have fallen behind, $55 billion for clean, safe water, and much, much more.
This investment will fuel good, union jobs across our nation, and safer roads and cleaner water will benefit us all for generations. SEIU 1021 president Joseph Bryant said, “This historic investment in the kind of services our members provide shows a renewed commitment to the public good and reminds us that when we work together and look out for one another, better things are possible for all of us. It’s a good start, but our members and our communities need more. We can Build Back Better and make our country a place of equity, justice, and opportunities to thrive for everyone.”
The Build Back Better Act has not yet been signed into law, but
it was passed by House Democrats, and now awaits Senate approval.
The act invests in children, working families, caregivers,
housing, and the environment. Battling climate change and
pollution, investing in childcare so working families can find
and afford it, and ensuring that workers in caregiving jobs are
paid fairly will lift up million of Americans. Click
