With the Trump administration escalating threats against immigrants—from increased ICE raids to an attempt, for now blocked indefinitely by a federal judge, to end birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to undocumented mothers and those on temporary tourist, student, or work visas (unless the father is a citizen or legal permanent resident)—immigrant communities are understandably worried. This has led to an unfortunate proliferation of misinformation about immigration enforcement actions, creating exactly the kind of panic among some immigrants that the administration is seeking.

As a result, it’s more important than ever for immigrants, including those who are documented, and their families to know their rights and what to do (and what not to do) in the event of ICE activities. Many SEIU 1021 members are immigrants and/or have immigrants in their families. We have put together some resources and trainings for our members in this section.

Please check back periodically, as we will be updating this page with new information, resources, and trainings as they become available.

Immigrant Rights & Preparing for Possible Immigration Enforcement Actions

The slides below are from a presentation made by SEIU 1021’s attorneys at Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld. They provide an overview of your rights and best ways to prepare and respond in various situations. Additional resources can be found below this section, as well as downloadable resources in the right hand sidebar of this page.
