There are serious concerns about the health and safety of the children and workers at Felton Institute. In the 2022-2023 school year, staff reported several disturbing events across Felton’s Early Care and Education sites that put the health and safety of many at risk. Make your voice heard and demand crucial changes in the workplace to meet the health and safety needs of the Felton community.

Tell Felton: Stop risking the health and safety of children, staff, and clients

SIGN the petition to demand that Felton management address health and safety violations and do the following:

1. Have active shooter training for ALL staff.
2. Create standard safety protocols and drills with staff input.
3. Immediate investigation and resolution of health and safety concerns & keep a public log.
4. As health and safety concerns are reported, immediately email all staff, clients, and parents and post notifications at all worksites.
5. Have working phones/speaker systems in all Felton workspaces.

Felton management repeatedly ignored parent and staff concerns over a toxic-smelling odor in a Family Developmental Center classroom, waiting seven months before ordering an investigation and discovering a dangerous gas leak.

There were numerous reports of gas leak-related illnesses that caused absences. When the gas leak was found, Felton management kept the information hush-hush, taking zero accountability.

When an active shooter was outside Felton’s Solmar Learning Center, Felton did not communicate with parents during this frightening incident. Many arrived to drop their children off and were turned away by armed police. Parents were only informed of the incident the following morning. Despite requests from staff and parents, there is still no safety protocol for active shooters in place.
