SEIU 1021 members at Felton Institute rally against imposition of unfair offer
SEIU 1021 members at the Felton Institute’s Family Developmental Center in San Francisco rallied during their lunch break on Friday, November 8.
They have been in wage reopener negotiations for months. Despite giving the four top executives alone almost $100,000 in raises in 2023—enough to give the entire staff a 3% raise—they have made minimal movement at the table, claiming it’s the best they can do on their budget.
Most recently, they unilaterally imposed their last, best, and final offer after months of refusing to bargain in good faith. Members are demanding that management come back to the table and negotiate in good faith.
“We want to be valued, supported. It’s a lot of things. It’s not only that we’re not getting the raise [we want]. It’s that we don’t feel supported,” said Roxana Guardado, who has been a teacher assistant at Felton for five years and worked in other areas there for years before. “We don’t feel like they value our work.”
