On September 28, 600 SEIU 1021 members will be gathering in Sacramento for an exciting, thrilling, empowering convention. We’re coming together to rally and strategize for our biggest challenges ahead: a critical election in the coming months and the ambitious priorities we’ll be fighting for over the next three years.

Hundreds of SEIU 1021 member delegates came together and offered their input to reach a draft core plan. At the convention, delegates will discuss, debate, and vote on this core plan to guide our union over the next 3 years.

The draft core plan prioritizes:

• Organizing unions for all;
• Strengthening our union and winning for members;
• Fighting for racial and social justice;
• Bargaining for the common good;
• Fighting climate change and pollution; and
• Protecting our democracy and building worker power.

Along with the draft core plan, the official 2024 convention program has been released. The 2024 SEIU 1021 convention is jam-packed with inspiring speakers, informative skills-building workshops, and world-class entertainment.

Convention speakers include:

• SEIU Executive Vice President Joseph Bryant;
• Assemblymember Liz Ortega;
• Dr. Bill Fletcher; and
• California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond.

For entertainment, convention attendees will have the opportunity to experience the electrifying performances of:

• Comedian Francesca Fiorentini;
• The Dahlias, a dynamic aerialist and acrobatic troupe;
• Mariachi Las Bonitas; and
• 3-time Grammy-Award winning artist Fantastic Negrito.
