San Lorenzo USD classified workers win big with new contract
Members gain wage raises, increased longevity pay, and new holiday
With a strong turnout and 90% of members who voted voting yes to ratify the proposed contract, San Lorenzo Unified classified workers won a huge victory at their March 27 meeting!
Thanks to the bargaining team’s efforts and the membership showing up when called upon, this new contract gives members a 15% pay raise effective July 1, 2022, including retroactive pay from that date, and a 5% raise on July 1, 2023.
“This was a historic win for our chapter and SEIU. Not only will our chapter benefit from this contract, but other chapters are now hearing and using our language and what we did in their bargaining. I appreciate all of the bargaining team and all the time and dedication they put into this effort,” said SEIU 1021 San Lorenzo USD Chapter President Steve Larsen.
In addition to raises across the board, bus drivers and transportation dispatchers will receive an additional increase in pay.
While these pay increases are a huge win in and of themselves, members also gained an additional holiday, Juneteenth, and a voice in creating a more flexible work environment for night custodians.
When workers win, we all win!
Congratulations to San Lorenzo USD classified workers!
