May 10: Celebrate AAPI Heritage Month with SEIU 1021
Honoring the “mothers of our movement”
This Mother’s Day weekend, SEIU 1021 invites members, families, and community allies to come together for a powerful celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, in recognition of the “mothers of our movement.”
On Saturday, May 10, join us at Snow Park in Oakland for a family-friendly gathering honoring the women, mothers, and matriarchs who have shaped our communities, our cultures, and our movement for justice.
“API Heritage Month is a vital time to remember the vibrant threads our histories weave into the American tapestry,” said SEIU 1021 API Caucus Chair Yeon Park. “It’s also a profound moment to honor the strength, resilience, and unwavering love of the women who nurtured us, guided us, and lifted us to be who we are today. Their stories are integral to our heritage and deserve to be celebrated. By understanding our collective past and honoring the women who raised us, we build a stronger, more inclusive future for all.”
This special event will feature cultural performances, delicious food, and activities for all ages, celebrating the richness of AAPI traditions and the power of intergenerational leadership.
