Chapter Secretary Nominations

Per SEIU 1021 City of Oakland Bylaws, notice is hereby given of an election for the chapter Secretary position.

Deadlines:

  • Nominations Open: October 30th, 2024
  • Nominations Close: December 6th, 2024

Nominations to serve as chapter secretary must be submitted by email to rafael.botello at seiu1021.org or ryan.fettes at seiu1021.org  by 5 p.m  on December 6th or made in person at the City of Oakland Chapter meeting on October 30th at 100 Oak Street starting at 5:30pm. All nominees must be members of SEIU Local 1021 in good standing. To be eligible to run for chapter secretary, a person must have been a member of SEIU Local 1021 for one full year and must work within a bargaining unit represented by the chapter. Self-nominations are acceptable.

City of Oakland Election Committee:

  • Art Mitchell Jr.(chairperson) – Drainage
  • Felipe Cuevas – Heavy Equipment Shop
  • JJ Barrall – OFD MACRO

The Chapter Secretary nominations start October 30th and close December 6th at 5 p.m.

Per the bylaws, here are the duties of the Secretary:

Secretary: The Secretary shall keep a correct record of the proceedings of all Chapter
Board and General Membership meetings and shall provide a copy thereof to the Secretary of the Local Union upon request. The Secretary shall receive all correspondence and communications on behalf of the Chapter.

 


Bargaining Team Nominations / Election

Per SEIU 1021 City of Oakland Bylaws, notice is hereby given of an election for the Bargaining Team for upcoming contract negotiations.

Deadlines:

  • Nominations Open: October 30th, 2024
  • Nominations Close: December 6th, 2024

Nominations to serve on the bargaining committee must be submitted by email to rafael.botello at seiu1021.org or ryan.fettes at seiu1021.org  by 5 p.m  on December 6th or made in person at the City of Oakland Chapter meeting on October 30th at 100 Oak Street starting at 5:30pm. All nominees must be members of SEIU Local 1021 in good standing. To be eligible to run for and serve on the Bargaining Team, a person must have been a member of SEIU Local 1021 for one full year and must work within a bargaining unit represented by the chapter. The Bargaining Team shall be made up of the following representatives:

Chapter Officers:    (all seven serve on bargaining team)
Public Works:    3
Animal Services:    1
Department of Transportation:    1
Library:    2 (1 permanent, 1 TPT)
Fire:    1
OPD:    2
Parks and Rec:    2 (1 permanent, 1 TPT)
Human Services:    1
Finance:    1
Building and Planning:    1

Members may run or be nominated for a seat on the Bargaining Team for their department only but can vote for all positions.
