The election is days away! What are you doing to make an impact?
The countdown is on! We are just days away from the November election. SEIU 1021 members have been working around the clock to support pro-labor candidates here at home and at the nation’s capital.
We have been knocking on doors, picking up the phone, and sending postcards to swing states across the country to support grassroots initiatives, local candidates, and to help elect Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as our next President and Vice President of the United States.

The job is mission critical as the very values we hold near and dear are on the line. That’s why the union has set up get out the vote (GOTV) events linked here to help you easily find a local opportunity and do your part before the clock runs out next Tuesday.
In Richmond, we have seen major oil company Chevron counter our efforts to make polluters pay by putting Measure J on the ballot. Our community-led campaign has been holding Chevron accountable for asthma and health risks over the years, which led to a huge settlement. Measure J is their attempt to disrupt the elections that help get pro-labor advocates elected. We have been phone banking to raise support for a countermeasure our union helped put on the ballot called Measure L.
In San Joaquin County, this is the first election in the last decade that we have a chance to flip the Board of Supervisors to become a majority pro-labor board. That’s why we have been meeting with neighbors by going door-to-door to let them know about our endorsed candidate Sonny Dhaliwal. If he is elected we can look forward to a chance at better working conditions and wages.
Over in Santa Clara County, we are fighting fast-food giant Mc Donald’s because they invested $100,000 against our choice for Board Supervisor, Betty Duong.
Our members are also canvassing to support Shanelle Scales-Preston for the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors. She currently sits on the Pittsburg City Council and is running against a one-time Republican-turned-Democrat. We’ve been letting locals know about her staunch advocacy for uplifting youth and family services.
There’s still time left to make a difference! Head over to this link to check out how you can help.
