Chabot Las Positas Community College District classified staff ratify strong contract by 99%
SEIU 1021 members will get a 16%+ raise over 3 years as well as new protections
SEIU 1021 members at Chabot Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD) voted nearly unanimously last week to ratify a tentative agreement with no takeaways that not only addresses skyrocketing inflation but also provides protections for classified staff and improvements to working conditions.
“This agreement addresses the many ways our worksites and working conditions have evolved due to the pandemic, climate change, and the economy,” said SEIU 1021 CLPCCD Chapter President Rachel Ugale. “Our biggest wins in this contract campaign were a direct result of member engagement. They turned out to Board meetings and shared the impact the last few years have had on them personally, and that made a huge difference for us at the table. We are definitely stronger together!”
Some of the highlights of the agreement include:
- Across-the-board increases of 11%, 3% and 2% or more (if the state COLA is announced at more than 2.5%). First year increase is retroactive to July 1, 2022
- Established a new step
- Enhanced shift differentials in the first and second year of the contract
- Enhanced call back (minimum) pay
- Established a new holiday, Cesar Chavez Day, in addition to Juneteenth
- Enhanced bereavement leave with expanded definition of family; increased entitlement (number of days)
- Enhanced college fee reimbursement
- Established new fund for certification and licensing
- Established telecommuting as a flexible work schedule in the contract, in addition to alternative work schedules
