Bargaining Update
The Fight for a Strong Contract Has Started—And We Need YOUR Help!

Article

Our Bargaining Team met with the Court’s representatives for the first time on September 19. We spent most of the time discussing the Court’s proposed ground rules, but we did not reach an agreement by the end of the day. At the same time, they want to limit our Bargaining Team to only 3 of 7 members. We need our full team present to represent our members, so we held firm.

As we start the process of bargaining a strong new contract, what’s top of mind for us is that the Court recently came to us with furloughs through 2025. We fought off any furloughs beyond our current contract, and we’re going to keep fighting off furloughs as best we can. After all, the Court is currently under budget!

The Court’s posture in the first session showed that they are not coming to the sessions in earnest. They disputed we were even in a bargaining environment.

We need every member to support the Bargaining Team: Wear your purple every time we bargain and stay tuned for actions!

Wear your purple on:

  • Tuesday, October 8
  • Wednesday, October 16
  • Wednesday, October 30

UPDATE on Our LPA Petition to Nixon

We received a response letter from Nixon’s office. The Presiding Judge declined to meet with us, stating he would delegate the matter back to Chad Finke (who did the imposition in the first place), as he wanted to stay out of administrative matters. This is curious, because Nixon was the first Court official to notify the employees about impending furloughs. The CAT team has developed next steps which will be shared with employees and member activists shortly.

Stay tuned!
