Elect Your Chapter Officers!

  • Nominations Open:  April 7, 2025
  • Nomination Period Ends:  May 7, 2025

Procedure for Nominations: Nominations shall be in the form of a nominating petition signed by fifteen (15) members in good standing.  Members can submit nominations by emailing the nomination petitions to Elois Thomas, Election Committee Chair lolesia at yahoo.com and union staff Daniel.Vasquez at seiu1021.org. Once the nomination period ends, on May 7, 2025, and candidates are confirmed, an election will be scheduled.

  • AHS Vice President, General Unit
  • AHS Vice President, Registered Nurses Unit
  • AHS Vice President, San Leandro Hospital
  • AHS Secretary
  • AHS Treasurer
  • Total of Four (4) at-large members: 
    • Highland Campus
    • Fairmont/John George Campus
    • Free Standing Clinics
    • San Leandro Hospital
  • Five (5) COPE (Committee on Political Education) Coordinators: (1) Highland; (1) Fairmont/John George Campus/Newark/Hayward Wellness Clinic; (1) San Leandro Hospital. (2) System-wide

Term of office: 2 years

Eligibility:  In order to run for and serve in a Chapter office, all persons shall be members in good standing, must be a member for one (1) year prior to the election (with exception of newly organized units), and employed within the bargaining unit(s) (including members working out of class) represented by the Chapter.  Only members in good standing may participate in the election.  Candidates may only run for one (1) office.

Voting Procedures: Election will be conducted by secret ballots, no proxy votes allowed.  

Endorsements/Campaign Material: Members may endorse candidates.  Such endorsements shall not appear in official election materials of the Chapter or Local publications, only in candidate’s materials.  Candidates may not use the Local SEIU 1021 logo in their campaign materials.  Candidates may not postcampaign materials on locked SEIU 1021 bulletin boards at worksites.  

Election Dates: June 9, 2025 – June 12th, 2025.  Voting will take place at Highland Hospital, John George Psychiatric Hospital, Fairmont Hospital, San Leandro Hospital, Eastmont, Marina, Hayward and Newark Clinics and 100 Oak Street.  Elections will be held between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m., 11:00 am – 1:00 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. (Detailed election schedule to follow this notice).  

Vote Count: June 12th, 2025 starting at 6:30 pm. at 100 Oak Street, Oakland, CA 

Election Challenges: All challenges to the election submitted in writing by June 18, 2025, in writing to the AHS Chapter - Elections Committee, 100 Oak Street, Oakland, CA  94607.  The election committee shall respond within five (5) working days of the receipt of the challenge.  Challenges or disputes which are denied or cannot be resolved by the Chapter Election Committee may be appealed in writing to the Local 1021 Chapter Executive Board within five (5) working days of receipt of the Chapter Election Committee’s decision.  The Local 1021 Chapter Executive Board shall investigate and respond within fifteen (15) working days of receipt of the challenge. Challenges to the election will be considered valid only if they cite specific violations of the Chapter election rules and procedures, Chapter bylaws or the Local 1021 Constitution and if the alleged violation may have affected the outcome of the election.

You must be a member of SEIU 1021- AHS Chapter, employed by at AHS in order to vote.  

OBSERVERS ARE ENCOURAGED AND WELCOME AT ALL POLLING LOCATIONS AND AT THE VOTE COUNT.
